Your lawyer says “we have a good shot.” Your gut isn’t so sure.
Your company is in the middle of a lawsuit, or about to be. Legal fees arrive every month. Every meeting with counsel ends the same way: “The case looks good.” Yet the more often you hear it, the more something feels out of place.
That feeling doesn’t mean your lawyer is doing a poor job, and it doesn’t mean you’re overthinking. It means you’re making a major decision from a single point of view.
Faced with a serious illness, most people ask another doctor before agreeing to surgery. A lawsuit with millions of baht at stake (every ฿1 million is roughly US$31,250), your company’s reputation on the line, and years of management time ahead deserves exactly the same care.
Why One Opinion Isn’t Enough
Your trial lawyer sees the case from the inside
After working a case for a while, any lawyer becomes attached to the strategy set at the start. That’s human nature in every profession. The more effort invested, the harder it is to step back and ask, “If I were starting fresh today, would I still choose this path?”
Incentives aren’t always neutral
This isn’t about anyone being dishonest. The reality is simply that someone who earns professional fees by keeping a case going and someone with nothing to gain either way will see it differently. And sometimes, telling a client “you should settle” is a hard thing to say.
Bad news tends to get softened
Nobody wants to be the one telling management that a case they’ve invested in for a year might be lost. So the information that reaches the board has often been polished several times over, until the picture looks better than reality.
A wrong decision costs far more than an opinion
Pushing ahead with a case that shouldn’t be fought means legal fees, witness costs, executive time, and the risk of paying full damages when judgment comes. Settling too early in a case you should win is just as costly, because it means walking away from money you were entitled to.
Signs It’s Time for a Second Opinion
You may need a second opinion if any of the following sounds familiar. You keep hearing “don’t worry,” but nobody can clearly explain why. Costs keep climbing while the case seems stuck in place. The other side has made a settlement offer and you can’t tell whether to accept it. The court of first instance has ruled, and you now have to decide whether to appeal or stop here. Your board or shareholders want independent reasoning to support the decision. The case involves complex issues such as international contracts, cross-border trade, or intellectual property. Or you are about to be sued and want to know where you stand before choosing a strategy.
If even one of these matches your situation, a second opinion isn’t a luxury. It’s risk management.
Our Service: A Second Opinion, Not Courtroom Representation
We review and provide second opinions on civil cases and on cases before the Intellectual Property and International Trade Court.
To be upfront: for health reasons, we no longer appear in court and do not take on cases ourselves. That is precisely what gives our opinion its weight. We have no reason to want your case to continue, and we’re not hoping to take it over.
What we do is work through the facts, the documents, the complaint, the answer, the applicable law, and the full history of the case, and then set it all out in a formal written legal opinion.
If your case isn’t as strong as you’ve been told, we’ll tell you. If we believe settlement makes more sense than fighting on, we’ll tell you. And if pressing ahead is the right call, we’ll tell you that too, with our reasons. Whichever way our opinion goes, you’ll get a straight answer.
What You Receive in Your Written Opinion
Our written opinion answers three core questions.
First, where does the case really stand? Assess the true status of the case as of today, without embellishment.
Second, what are your genuine strengths and weaknesses? Covering the facts, the evidence, and the law, including the points the other side is most likely to attack.
Third, if this were our case, what would we do next? A clear recommendation on whether to keep fighting, change course, or negotiate, and why.
Everything is written in plain language, with no legal jargon left for you to decode. You can take it straight to your current lawyer, present it to the board, or use it to guide your own decision.
A second opinion doesn’t replace your lawyer. It helps you ask the right questions and gives you confidence that the path you’ve chosen really is the best one.
What to Prepare
The more complete the information, the sharper the opinion. Send whatever you have, and we’ll let you know if anything is missing. Useful materials include the complaint, the answer, and any motions already filed with the court; the contract and key documents at the heart of the dispute; documentary evidence, emails, or relevant correspondence; hearing reports and earlier court orders; any judgment already handed down at any level; opinions or reports from your current lawyer; and a short note on what decision you need to make and by when.
All documents and information are kept strictly confidential.
Before Your Next Move, Get a Second Set of Eyes
The right question at the right moment can change the outcome of an entire case and save many times the cost of the opinion. Whether the answer turns out to be “keep fighting” or “time to negotiate,” you’ll be deciding on real information, not on hope.
